Facebook does allow third parties like Power Ventures to access its data--provided they sign up for the Facebook Connect program. If you sign up for that program, you agree to these rules (https://developers.facebook.com/policy):
Don't sell, license, or purchase any data obtained from us or our services. Don't transfer any data that you receive from us (including anonymous, aggregate, or derived data) to any ad network, data broker or other advertising or monetization-related service.
Power Ventures refused to sign up for Facebook Connect, and the court sees that as another factor showing its access was unauthorized.
